The clients wanted a sophisticated beachside getaway with modern lines, yet with coastal and ethnic touches. For each of the rooms they not did want anything matching so a variety of materials were selected: iron, chrome and copper for metals, different wood finishes, marble table tops, woven banana leaf chairs and durable fabrics to resist the elements. On the terrace, they wanted to bring the indoors outside so an additional dining area was added, as well as an outdoor living space. Off one of the masters, we placed a cozy nook with double width chaises to lounge on and read, while taking in the views of the Sea of Cortez. In the kitchen a custom backsplash was added with a Moroccan themed mosaic Darna tile, and in the bathrooms honed travertine field tiles and borders.
